I've got this seed coming. If you grew this seed, what can I expect with the fruit? I've heard it is a good/great color seed. I'm thinking of using it in a cross, to reinforce or add good color.

Iv'e never grown the 850 but I grew the 955 Stelts. (850 Wallace F. X 1140 Stelts M.)
My 592 pumpkin was a dark orange/red color.

I believe a good part of the color came from the 850 Wallace.

Thanks for your reply Ron.
One reason I'm interested in the 850 is because I saw it was a parent to the 955 Stelts(very nice color on the pumpkin you grew), and was a parent of the 604 Jutras.
I have seen one pic of a pumpkin grown off the 850 Wallace(Bhaskaran's), and it did have nice color(reddish orange).

I too am planning to grow the 850 hopefully next season. It is a seed that can be hard to start, but once it starts, everything is fine. It throws big and orange and has great genetics. As for the plant, don't know too many specifics, I'm still playing with potential crosses for size and great color. Jimmy

How about 850 x 846 Jutras, or 850 x 715 Dill? Te former should throw nice and dark orange. The latter would be similar to 810 Dill, very heavy on the 567 Mombert genes...

If I grow the 850 Wallace this year, I'll likely grow it in a small area, to make a genetic cross. I'd likely cross the 940 Mombert 00(567 Mombert X 801.5 Stelts) into it.
I'm wondering if the 850 Wallace always throws long fruit, as I've seen pics of two fruits from it, and they were quite long.
