Peace, Wayne

Owensboro, Ky.

Tomorrow I will be pollinating first fruit on 981 Zunino...Question is??? Should I use pollen from 529 Brinkley (1385 Daletas X 1048 Companion) or self the 981 (1230 Daletas X 1048 Companion) to reinforce the orange? New grower appreciates all opinions. Peace Wayne
Other possibilities for tomorrow's pollination are 906 Tanner and 1075 Daletas.

I'd either self it or cross it with the 1075, both good options.
The 529 has some 898 Knauss genes in it via the 1385 and the 906 has lots of 845 Bobier genes in it, both the 898 and the 845 would probably reduce the chances for orange and so I wouldn't use the 529 and the 906.

I somehow had the idea that 1048 Companion was what I wanted for round and orange? Is this incorrect? Thanks for the info. Peace Wayne

you would be absolutely correct if there wasn't the 898 in the 529 via the 1385. The 1048 alone would be a perfect choice for a cross but I think you don't have a 1048 plant...

Doesn't the 1048 being the male pollinator for the 529 enhance the orange trait of the seeds from the 529? Thanks for all the info. Peace Wayne
