Hi -

I just noticed that my pkn has what appears to be a razor slice (sabotage!), I don't know how deep it is, the pkn is softball size, 15' out on the main, it was going to be my keeper. Could anyone advise me whether they think this is damaging or if it might heal itself? Thanks -

Craig

I've never had success with splits (or slices) on young fruit. Hence it might be best to look out on the main for a new female if such a candidate is there.

Are you sure the rapidly developing fruit didn't split?

If its just a surface scratch thats not to deep I wouldnt worry about it,I have scratches on my pumpkins that healed with no problem.

I would agree with Steve. If it looks like a razor slice that is deep it is from a split. Most likely not sabotage. Start another fruit if possible. Otherwise a splitter turns into a major headache.

Brooks, I hope you're right. Steve, I ought to have another female, I have more bees! Went out to check my plant this AM and there were at least 3 bees for each male and female flower. As for 'rapidly developing', I'm not quite in the same league as you guys so that's probably not the issue. Shannon, it's most likey not sabotage, I don't think (my plant and) I pose much of a threat. Thanks to all, will let you know how it turns out. Craig

Hi -

My little slice is still there, and weeping. I read that someone applied a Sulphur Fungicide to theirs. Is this a possibility? What would I use and how would I apply it?
Thanks -

Peace, Wayne

I use a product (dont remember brand) that is described as wettable sulphur. It comes in a red and yellow bag in powder form. I make a paste and fill cracks, splits, etc., in stems and on the fruit. Hope this helps. Peace Wayne
