doe anyone know the genetic history of lorraine orrs 887 seed stock.
seed was produced approximately ten years ago.
when we planted it in 1996 it gave us the ride of a life time.
grew as fast and as big as any of todays hot seeds.
we lost the fruit due to disease in early september at over 800 lbs .which at that time was world record potential

im think of using it as a pollinator on one of our 1068 offspring this year.

thanks

Hey Dick, what did you end up crossing that 887 with? BF

Dick, Walt Dabel, a long time San Jose, Ca grower, grew the 887 Orr 95 in 2004. I believe the pumpkin was a little under 400 lbs. He crossed it with the 709.5 McCallum, which I thought was an interesting cross.

Scott Armstrong is a 887 fan... I know he grew it at least one ... maybe more... he might have some information.

The 547 Armstrong 00 was 887 Orr x 935 Lloyd
The 513 Little 04 was 547 Armstrong x 730 Stellpflug (still 50% 887)

thanks guys

ron and i have one 887 left over from the original two that lorraine orr gave us years ago. ( like al said this was a hot seed even before we had hot seeds. )

id love to get a second just in case ours gives us germination problems.

im in agreement with al eaton, the introduction of the 887 line into our 1068 could be dynamite in a bottle ( so to speak )

time will tell

if scott sees this note im hoping he will get in touch with me. id even use his 547 if i cant get another 887.

It is my understanding that these 547 seeds aren't too easy to come by either(though I would have to believe Scott himself has some). If you are unable to procure any, let me know. I should be able to help you out, BF

Scott had another 887 cross in 2002

547 Armstrong is an aggressive, fast grower. My 513 split on me but was on a 900# pace....great seed in my opinion.

I think Scott Armstrong gave me his last 887 Orr in 2004, but the plant didn't make it.
Have a 734 Cole 1998 if anyone wants it to plant....(887 x 567.5 Mombert)= 800 Wallace...x self= 734 Cole
