We would at least like to try for 400 pounds or more. One other thing is would they do well in Ohio where we live also can all pumpkins be eaten? Thanks in advance so much for all help !!!!!!!!!

Lots of seeds can be gotten for free if you take a look at the seed exchange board here on bigpumpkins.com.
If you buy from Dill, go for his premium seed list. It shows the parentage. With proper growing any of the seeds he offers will grow to at least 400 lbs. Even I got over 400 lbs last year with his seed.
Yes, Ohio is a great place to grow big pumpkins. You can eat AGs but I wouldn't as they aren't that tasty. Many other sorts you can eat though.
Hope this helps you out. Have fun growing.

Ohio is a great place to grow pumpkins. There are two excellent clubs in the state. The OVGPG (Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers) has an annual weigh-off in Canfield, Ohio. Their official website is www.OVGPG.com. For additional info you can email Alan Gibson at OVGPG@aol.com.
The other club is the SOGPG (Southern Ohio Giant Pumpkin Growers) and is a sister site to the OVGPG. The SOGPG weigh-off is held in Chillicothe, Ohio. I don't know their web address, but information can be obtained by emailing Tony Vanderpool at Tonyvanderpool@adelphia.net.
The OVGPG is highly competitive with the top 12 pumpkins from 2005 all weighing over 1000 pounds. Not to be outdone, the SOGPG top 5 all weighed in at over 800 pounds.
As far as seeds go, I, like most other growers here, would be happy to send you some good quality seeds with great genetics. Simply send me an email at wallace118@comcast.net or click on the little envelope above my name at the left. I will reply with my mailing address. Then just send a small, self-addressed bubble envelope (approximately 5 x 9 is the most common) with .60-.70 cents return postage affixed. That's it!
As Brad mentioned, you can also check the seed exchange board and post a request for seeds. Before you know it you will have more seeds than you can possibly plant.
While your waiting for your seeds (and spring) to arrive, start reading everything you can on this web site. Have your soil tested as soon as possible and get ready.

Happy Growing!

Don't forget the seedoutlet.com. As a new grower that was the first place I would purchase fairly decent seeds for basically the price of postage. Most growers as well are very happy to give new growers seeds.

But as Shannon said a please and Thank you goes a long way.
