Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 790 was the 879 Holland x 801.5 Stelts cross and the fruit itself was tall, fairly round and a med to light orange color. Offspring have been a little longer than the mother and around the same color. It has popped some really big ones. I just bought one at auction so anyone who wants to plant it worse than me can email me your seed trade possibilities :) BF

The 1245 Bailey was a 790 X self cross. It was quite orange and tall if I remember right.

i think it was one of those situations where the conditions
had to be EXACTLY right to bring out the monster in that
seed. i feel that an incredible event will occur one day from that seed, similar to the 723;
for a long time, one of the most popular seeds ever and
hinting at world-record capability, and then----1407.3!!!
i helped a little bit to slightly move the 1245 Bailey
in his truck bed that year....i think there was about an inch on each side of the fruit and was a little too close on the left side...anyway, a BEAST that pumpkin was....eric

I grew the 1245 a couple of years ago and selfed it again and did a 749 off of it which is still my PB. to this day. It grew so fast it was unbelievable, and of course it cut loose and split on me on sept.1 , so I lost a whole month plus of growth on it, as it charted 840 when it went down on me, and I attribute the % light and lack of mature seed to the early split..I still feel the 790/1245/749 genetic is one that will kick some butt, as from my experience it just grows way too fast and gives me the jitters....lol...Also take into account I am at 6000+ ft. elevation...JK

There is also the 837 Larue 2000 which is the same cross as the 790 Daletas. It has not been planted to much, I also grew it and did a 571 on it the same year I grew the 1245 Bailey, and I used the 1245 as the male pollinator, which = 837 Larue which is same cross as the 790 x 790 selfed..No one has experimented with this cross yet, although I am mighty tempted. Most of those seeds were sent out to a lot of growers also and I only have a few left and none to give out

The 790Daletas was the male pollinator to my 1074 Beauchemin. Which produced my 500Beauchemin. Which produced my 1314.8Beauchemin. The reason I initially pollinated my 898Knauss with the 790Daletas was because of two factors.
In 2003 the the 1245Baily was considered one of the largest ott. pumpkins grown. Combine that with the 898Knauss which produced the thickest walled pumpkin ever grown (1156Larson). My thoughts were that the two had everything you would want. A huge shell with thick thick walls!
Thats what my 1314.8 had. What can the 1314.8 produce?
Just my thoughts....
