Are there some progeny know of the 1033 Emmons ( 846 calai x self )? Can it be a good pollinator for the 1097 Beachy ? Or reverse ?

Add color? I have seen alot of pumpkins grown from the 1097 that where Diagle orange in color.LOL

I grew the 1033 Emmons last year and the fruit was nearly white! Not what you might expect from that seed but that's what I got. As far as crossing it with the 1097 Beachy, do whatever you like. Nobody understands these things well enough to say for sure what will make a good cross. It really is a crapshoot for the genetics, you might be able to spot some trends, or delude yourself into thinking you have, but until you plant whatever you produce with any cross you make and pop a big one with it you really don't know. Until recently most growers were simply trying to grow the biggest pumpkin they could and if the genetics that went into it produced more big pumpkins down the line then that was icing on the cake because then they would have a desireable seed to trade with others. I'll probably plant the 1033 again as well as the 1097. As for crossing them, why not?
