Fortunately, we were able to get a 1469 Checkon along with seeds from other growers/associations.

MY question is: to self or not to self?

or should I cross? What would you do?

Possible seeds to cross with.....

1048 Wallace
699 Bosworth
1196 Hampton
1102 Sperry 05
1253 Sperry 04
1330 Connolly 05
1104 Hester
1200 Checkon
575 Cavanaugh our first plant (1179 Kline X self)

The next are ALL SELFED
1107.8 Girgus (723 Bobier x self)
Nolfke 97 ???? (567.5 MOMBERT x SELF)
548 EST. Janowiak (705 x self)
476 uow Beachy01 (876.5 Lloyd x self)

Thanks

Good luck to all in '06

Randy,

You know what cross I think would be the best one ,lol.

But if your wanting a already good proven seed to cross with that 1469, I like your 1253 or the 1104.

I say 1253. You're priority should be to add %+ to the chart. I never saw the 1469 in person, but that thing went so light I'd think you'de need to add thickness if you want one to survive. I like the 1253 too. AleX Noel.

hey you

Greencastle, PA

the pollinator of the 1469 is the 1104 Hester. If I remember correctly, Checkon's fruit from the 1104 went heavy, though I'm not sure of the exact %. That being the case, I would self it and grow as many of those selfed seeds as I can and self all of those in order to select the best traits.
