Brooks, I can give you half a dozen seeds that were that heavy at that small. There is much more variance in the fruit under 600 lbs or so.

How much more Variance are we talking about though Tom? If thats true then what should people use as a guide under 600? So really that new OTT chart is usless for something under 600lbs then?
I have to say ,for a pumpkin thats almost 500lbs that went 27% heavy, its still the heavest pumpkin to Ott measurments that I have seen at that weight to date.
What would a pumpkins ott measuremnts that weighed 456 lbs be because of more varience? Gotta be a happy medium somewhere right?

Brooks, I know that I haven't measured as many pumpkins as most people on here, but for my 167 Holder last year, the OTT meathod was right on. My 167 taped out at 168. I was impressed with how accurate it was.

Brad,Im in the same boat as you, I grew a couple smaller pumpkins, a 260lber(snake pattern) and another 207lbs and they was real close to the OTT, Although I did use a bathroom scale to weigh these two pumpkins.

I had a 298 lber that was 52% over the OTT estimate and a 119 that was around 70% over. Remember... 1 lb is much more in terms of percentage in a small fruit than a large one. Tom

I think Vineman grew a 307 Little last year that was 44% heavy to chart. Taped to an estimated 385 pounds and actually weighed 544.5 pounds.

The 307 Little goes double digit heavy up to approx 700#...no larger weight than that has been grown from it YET.
