The 801.5 is getting quite scarce, I imagine. Are there any likely candidates out there to replace it as an orange pollinator? Or will the 801.5 Stelts X self or sibb, be our best bet?
I'd like to hear your thoughts/opinions.

I think that the 1233.5 Reiss will be pollinating a lot of fruit this year. It is 670 Daigle x 801.5 stelts.

Yes I agree that the 1233 will be pimped out often...LOL Id say the 670 is probably the new 801. I hope that my 781.5 will take on Martins 1233.5 as the replacement to the 670 and 801. I cant wait to find out!

If you are looking for top producers of dark colored pumpkins check out this search on the AGGC.

Yeah, Mike N. has a great new search on his site for top color producers.(Shows what percentage of offspring are dark, medium or light, or OTC.)Great info for showing the degree of homozygosity of traits. For anybody with access, check out the "Top Producers" query. In my opinion, this is his best innovation yet.
1101, 670, 940 Mombert 00, 1370 are your top four, but that only scratches the surface of the info.
And 1233 seems like a 'can't miss' color seed.

Frank

P.S. to members of the Michigan Giant Pumpkin Growers, our March newsletter has a great genetics section using this info courtesy of Mike. Hitting newsstands soon!

hey you

Greencastle, PA

th 1225 Jutras will be grown a lot. I also like the 1204 Kline, I hope it gets planted. the 869 Calai is popular. I'm considering planting a 621 Welty next year, it's an 846 Calai x 947 Patrick.

>>>>>1140 Stelts, which by the weigh,
if i haven't made enough of a point of it:

what is 705 Stelts (705 pounds)
PLUS
435 Grindle (435 pounds)

?

what is the weight of the Year 2000 World Record Pumpkin?

?

that is right>>>>>>the weights of the parents of the 1140 Stelts add-up to the weight of the resulting pumpkin.

so far, pretty much anyone i have mentioned this to
has been about as interested in it as my fat cat Oreo
is in having me move her off of the couch where i want to sit....NOT AT ALL! well, I think it is pretty cool.

anyway, lol-----the 1140 Stelts was the pollinator of my
728.5 '01 (845 Bobier '00 X 1140 Stelts) and i hope the
resulting AlwAys-OrANGe pumpkins add merit to my claim that the 1140 Stelts IS, for me so far, an excellent, orange-inducing pollinator for the Gerry line of seeds, and still can be for plenty of others...so if you have an 1140,
trade it to me someday or try it once, even as "just" a pollinator. the results could be nice and orange. eric

low-riding, inSAnElY-OrANge pumpkins from that
955! wow, i guess i am mostly right about the
1140 Stelts....
sweet>>>i have a 955 that doesn't
have the cross written on the packet from an auction
last winter. i'll fix THAT!
i would consider planting it, having seen the
results! thank you for the link/comments. eric g

Curious nu-B...does low and long tend to lead to otc weight? Peace, Wayne

it is probably still sort of all the same,
with the chart having been compiled over the years from every size and shape of pumpkin imagineable...just my opinion. a great example i think of a great pumpkin
design is that 1128 Boyton, cut in half...with a kid in it, lol!
so, THAAAAAAT's why it was so heavy...errr, no,,,, weight a minute, lol....if you ever see the real 503 Beauchemin
in Jim-B's diary, well, THAT is the grand design we all wish for, and it didn't look long and low to me! later--eric
