Hey everyone,
Anyone know any amature/professional AG growers in the Modesto California area? Smack dab in the middle of CA. I'm looking for a lot of advice for my climate.

there should be a few growers from NAPA California
that are very well-known,, but that's as far as
i can contribute here...i think most things to be learnt about AG-growing can be applied anywhere and derived from this site alone, along with, and i cannot stress it enough,
Don Langevin's Second Book on Pumpkin-Growing,
entitled 'How-to-Grow-World-Class-Giant-Pumpkins, II'
(+ or - a few hyphens, lol) as well as the
Joel Holland YEARLY video (from Holland's Land O' Giants).
in addition, the main thing to consider that would be
different from anywhere else, would be the HEAT and how
to deal with it....keep the plant cool, misted when necessary, moderately shade-clothed, and every vine buried and treated with Mycorrhizae (for additional water and nutrient take-up and resistance to drought) and all should be fine----the 977 Andersen was grown by a first-year grower, Chris, and perhaps if you can find documentation on how the heck he did it, that could be to your benefit as well----eric gerry/pumpkinpal2

I believe, ah what's his name, very experienced grower, just accepted into the GPC hall of fame. What's his name??!!!! Anyway, I think they said that he was living in the Napa area. Somebody help me with a name here! AleX Noel.

Thanks everyone for responding so fast. I got the book, one of Joel's videos, and by the graciousness of Joel one of his seeds. I shade clothe it, but don't mist sufficiently or add enough Mycorrhizae. Thanks for the heads up on Pete Glaiser...I'll definitely persue that. I'm so excited. I hope everyone get's their personal best this year.

You will need shade cloth and misters. See my diary from past year and the diary of the growers in Chico.
