Just a reminder to really verify your seeds before you plant. Ethics are in question lately , without getting into names and such . once you enter a seed into the gene pool we own it forever. when in doubt throw it out lol good luck in 06 big dave

Besides knowing the seed came from the grower, how could you verify it? There seems to be a fair amount of trust involved. It would wreak havoc if a particular seed entered the gene pool and was later found to be bogus, especially a widely planted one.

That's happened more than we can know unfortunately Craig. The grower that plants it is more often than not just a victim, but a person that tries to pass of the fakes is a bad bad person. AleX Noel.

Dave, I appreciate your concern for the integrity of this Sport/hobby/disease of ours. It is my opinion that the gene pool is already muddied. I agree with your exhortation if in doubt throw it out.

Obviously, its only as trustworthy as the person(s) who pass the seeds. . . .are there any ways to reduce the chances of fraud.

This whole club and its procedures are evolving

Maybe (for the better pumpkins, at least) we should sign across flap of envelope, initial the seeds, take digitals, or some other such to make fraud catchable occasionally.

Then we could publically blackball. . . .

the truth is even if you get a seed directly from the grower all you have is his/her word that the seed you got is the seed he says is. I am not saying that growers are giving out bad seed just all you have is their word that seed is what they say it is.

a white pumpkin in my patch this year = problems for somebody. I trust the people I traded with and all the seeds I sent were club seeds.
