In my quest for GREEN,, Ive accuired A very large tin conntaining GREENIES. In my constant reavalueation of seed selection for 06" //// Almost all of them are offfspring of the 895Hester which was the Sibb of the 900.8 Lyons.. /// I posted a request for the 900.8Lyons/// A fellow member gave me 2 of them:) My thoughts are /// germ both seeds??? grow one ,& have neihbor grow the other??? Allowing for the same 895REMAKE & also another cross??? Is this logical ,, or going backwards??? SINCE the 900.8 is unnpredictable ORANGE/GREEN should the fruit be observed on both plants before making desicions! DBH

If the small fruit seem to be differant colors on each plant? Would you carry on with sibb experiment, or decide to self instead?

Crap Dave save yourself a few seasons and grow out our 611* which is a 895 Hester X self = 834* seeds produced our 823* which was selfed and produced our 611.4* which was sibbed.... All 834* and her offspring were blackish green and heavy to the charts. Its the 3rd generation revival that has us going with the 611* this year for green and big! Look it's genelogy up on the AGGC...

Oh and Dave, if you can get those 900.4 Lyons seeds to fire AWESOME, but... remember half the time they go orange....

I believe Brett grew the 900 several times and only the 895 throws such consistent greenies. So your chances of sibbing the 900 and getting similar results are slim.

I'd say self the 900 Lyons seed. If you're going to sib, and if you happen to get lucky like Brett did, all that does is put you four seasons behind Gerry. Either grow the 611 Gadberry, or self the 900...

Just my two cents....

As a fellow sib enthusiast I would grow 2 fruit on each 900(provided of course your luck is above average and you get both to germ). I would sib one on each plant and self the other. And while your chances of getting "similar results" to Brett's are slim, there is nothing to say your chances of bettering Brett's aren't 50/50. Good luck with the germinating, BF

I havent heard of any serious problems with 900-94's not germinating. They seem to still be good as of last year. I intend to grow the 900 as a pollinator this year if its green only.
