I want to throw this out to the BIGS.....Can a AG cross pollinate with a acorn squash?, Sphagetti Squash, Zuccinni? Cucumber? I have had squashes cross, Maybe a punkin cross with a squash one year dunno the following year the volunteer was a big punkin but a little flattened. Was this because of a cross pollinate? All were opened pollination. I have heard cross talk on this Im thinkin the answer is YES....
Please Advise

Very Unlikely. C Maxima pretty much needs to cross with C Maxima. Now Pepo's are another story.
Here is a site that is very helpful for explaining this.
http://ag.udel.edu/enwc/faculty/dmcaron/Pollination/gourds.html
Popular myths allow that two different vegetables can cross in the garden and produce "mutant" fruit. The vegetable that would be harvested is different than either parent.

The truth is that when plants cross, characteristics are not expressed until the seed produced by the cross is planted and produces a new crop. When field corn and sweet corn cross, however, the kernel appearance and taste are altered the first year.

With this in mind, what vegetables will cross with what? Plants cross when pollen from one plant is moved to the flowers of another by wind or insects.

Cucumbers do easily cross with other cucumbers. They do not cross with squash, pumpkin, watermelon or cantaloupe.
Summer squash easily crosses with other summer squash and with pumpkin. Summer squash doesn't cross with winter squash.
Cantaloupes do not cross with cucumbers, watermelons, pumpkins or squashes.
Tomatoes do not cross with potatoes.

Dan being from Wisconsin we all know that the Brown Cows do produce Chocolate Milk. The other propoganda spread out there is just to keep the brown cow down.

AG's will cross with Hubbard, Banana, Show King and other " Maxima " squashes ! Best to control pollination if you want an orange pumpkin.

I have Spaghetti, Acorn, (WInter), and summer squash of Zuchinni and crooked neck yellow. I have no cantelope this year....but I guess one never knows about the bees. Last Year I did not hand pollinate my 1449WhittierX898Knauss was grown next to a 898Knauss....with lots of flowers 1 female. THis year people are raving about how strong this plant is, I cant wait to see what kind of fruit developes.
Thanks..,..I was able to hand pollinate today two of my home plants.....Langevin cross with the male 1204 Kline, and the 1204 Kline with the Langevin male...was funnnnn! Mr Reiss is next and I am going to self him to try and maintain the genetics.....Will that work....What could I lose I dont have anymore of this seed and I love this plant
