Since 2006 was my first year growing AGs, I am appreciative of all the input I can get.

I wanted to ask about what seeds (hopefully, attainable ones) and genetics that would serve me well with my growing and breeding goals:

1) Big, tall and round
2) Possessing genes for heavy OTT
3) Nice ribbing
4) Big shoulders
5) Deep medium to dark orange color with little to no cantaloupeing.

Many thanks!

IMO it's difficult to find a seed that consistantly produces what you're looking for. The 1180 Delatas can produce those characteristics, but you'd have to get lucky and get the right seed. It can produc light colored pumpkins, frequently. It often produces the first four characteristics you want, but the color is hit or miss. Maybe breeding the 1180 with something very orange, would be an option. The 1370 Rose is another option, but you'd need to get lucky on the seed draw to get most, or all of those characteristics. Both of those seeds may be difficult/expensive to obtain.
The 955 Brinkley 06 may be an option(1180 Delatas X 1370 Rose). It had all the characteristics you're looking for, except had some cantelouping. The 1370 pollinator didn't yeild anything(trouble getting a fruit set?), but Bill said it was a nice plant. If it had seeds, you could make a request to the grower.
Hopefully others with give you more options.

My selfed 1233.5 Reiss is available for bubbling. It is capable of big, not by me this year but did OK for others, very round, nice ribs and shoulders, very dark orange, did not cantelope as much, however the skin did crack but I attribute that to the Colorado weather of very cold one night then warm again......email me if interested. See TheWiz diary and LongMontPetes too, his was 511 mine 369 but there was one this year that hit 900+ and several other big ones. You are welcomed to bubble me. I did like the vine too, low and close to the ground good for high wind areas.

If there was such a seed wouldn't we all be planting it? Genetics of Giant Pumpkins contain many dominant and recessive variables that appear randomly in no given order. There are several seeds that typicaly throw a certain type of pumpkin. 801.5 Stelts, 846 Calai, 1180 Daletas, 603.5 Mueller, 670 Daigle, and the list goes on. I have planted the seeds from the same pumpkin a few times and never ended up with pumpkins that are the same shape, size and same characteristics. So you have to go with a gut feeling, and plant something that may have the possibility to throw a pumpkin of your likes. I prefer Big, Orange and Heavy. So while people druel over an 898 Knauss. I would pass it up for something prettier.

The 1233's this year had a consistant good look, several nice 700lbs but none real big. Still, the results are strong enough for me to consider this seed in 07.

No doubt Dan, I think I saw one or two others grown from the 364 Webster and they were beauties also- just not as big as yours!

Here is a link to a pic of the 364 Webster that I grew. It was over the 1000 lb pace for the first few weeks then just stopped. The main ended up rotting on me right behind the fruit. It finished right around 400 lbs. It only grew a few inches of OTT from early August to September. The cross is 364 x 891 Northrup(670 Daigle remake). The 891 grew my largest pumpkin at an estimated 877 lbs.

I also have a 1210 Kline x 364 Webster cross. The fruit from the 1210 can be seen in the background of the last pic in my diary. I came in at 746 lbs. EST had a nice shape and was light orange. The 1210 plant went in the ground very late, after I lost the 1201 LaRue plant in late May.
