Has anyone used opposite crosses and crossed them back together...say a seed that is cross AxB pollinated with a seed that was BxA. I have several opposite crossed seeds that I was considering doing this with, but wondered what the genetics discussion would look like.

A very complex discussion it would be. Several growers have also tried this. Cross backs and reverse crosses are very popular. Selfing is another and sibbing are slight twists that also work good. The grand daddy of this technique was the 935 Lloyd.

Thanks, I will have to look back at hte 935 heiarchy. I have several self and sib seeds, but none of the reverse cross-backs. I am surprised no one else commented on this.

Gus - last year i crossed the 555 from eddy-z (735 Pukos x 723 Bobier) with my 917 (723 Bobier x 735 Pukos).

the 1170 Wells (1097 beachy x 1002 Gibson), 911 Holland, 1301 Eaton also fits the same pattern.

i'm sure there's more, that's just what comes mind. as far as i know, neither has been grown.
