Another crossing question. Would it make sense to repeat a cross that already proved itself. For example if someone extremely lucky, and rich grower managed to get there hands on a 1068 and a 1354, would it serve to cross them again? Or are the odds against this cross producing world class fruit more than once?

I assume you're implying that it was the cross of the 1502 Wallace, so are thinking about it? Maybe I'm wrong though. The 1354(pollinator) of the 1502, only affected the genetics of the seeds in the 1502. The 1502 pumkin is the result of the 1068 Wallace genetics(845 X 898)... there are similar crosses to this out there.

yes, it makes a lot of sense but anyone on here will probably say that there has never, or rarely, been a seed that was a remake that did better than the original.
if i did not care about anything except proving about 10 seeds i would only plant seeds that had an 845 X 898 or 898 X 845 cross in them this year. most remakes do not get planted widely enough to really find out how well they will do. once an original seed becomes too rare, though, maybe its 'remake' successors will get a real chance. eric g

Some folks feel that every like cross is identical in all ways. Others feel that the AG genetics fail to line up exactly. If they did fail to align the same as the "original", there would be a good chance that a remake might do better.
Consider the 723 & 845 Bobier - The 845 is the only truly succseful remake. Remember the 1337 Houghton World record?

As Eric mentioned, remakes hardly ever get planted. By the time the original becomes too rare, there is usually a new cross that performs better.

Not sure if this is along the same line or not but I have a similar question about crosses. If someone took a 1097 Beachy (845 Bobier X 723 Bobier) and crossed it with a 1367.5 Rose (723 Bobier X 845 Bobier) would this be considered a good cross or would it be a bad cross since the parents of both seeds are the same only reversed?
