I've just posted my annual listing of the 50 Top Proven Seeds for heavy offspring at the following link:

http://home.pacbell.net/diana_do/topseeds.htm

This table shows all seeds that have produced at least one 1250 pounder or two over 1000 with at least one over 1200.

This year I revised the ranking system for the list. I used the average weight of the top five offspring to rank the seeds. I used the average of the top 5 offspring so that seeds that have not been extensively planted were more fairly represented.

These seeds I consider the top PROVEN seeds for heavy offspring. Many other seeds out there including a number of crosses from last year are loaded with potential that hasn't been expressed fully at a weigh off.

A few observations from the list:

1. The 1068 Wallace has replaced the 723 Bobier as the top producing seed of all time. The 1068 Wallace has produced 14 pumpkins over 1200 pounds!
2. The 1370 Rose has moved up to number four on the list.
3. The 664.5 Liggett has moved into the top ten.
4. Virtually every seed that has produced a pumpkin over 1,200 pounds has the 723 Bobier, 846 Calai, 845 Bobier or the 898 Knauss in it's genetic background. Many are direct crosses between these four. When looking for good unproven crosses to plant, keep this in mind....
5. This year 13 new seeds were added to this honor roll. Some of the new seeds particularly the Pukos Pair (1231.3/998.6) show great promise after their first year out!

This list was compiled primarily from the AGGC database. Many thanks to Mike Nepereny for this fabulous resource.

Good eye mark. The 875 Dill was 914 Wentzell x 715 Dill, which were offspring of the 1006 Greer and the 567.5 Mombert. I'll fix my list.
