1074 Calai '02 (801.5 Stelts x 876.5 Lloyd)

Same cross as the infamous 846 Calai. It hasn't been grown as much but it does share the same good color traits.

I don't see a lot of UOW, EST or DMG in the report card so not sure why it hasn't been more widely planted. I suspect the "right grower" hasn't pushed it up yet.

I grew it last year, very orange, perfect shape, crossed it with the 1260.
Check it out in my diary from last year.

That one got a bad rap when a few fruit went light from it. Probably scared a lot of growers off...

Who did grow the "1002 Black 02" or the "Beachy cross 02" (results: color, shape,lbs.,...?)? They are also the same cross. Peter

Ted (BP name Saul) grew one over 1000 lbs, look at his 2006 diary pics, very beautiful and orange.

Hey Tom...what were your's & Ted's taping? Except for the 640 Mudd, the AGGC data does suggest light progeny.

Ted's split so it wasnt officially weighed, mine was originally grown for a giant jack o lantern, it was a solid fruit, just never brought to a scale.
