I'm just curious.

If a particular GP/GS variety was available, that grew to respectable weights, but was also genetically resistant to pathogens like powdery mildew, etc... How many of you would want it?

Atlantic Giants already exhibit better PM resistance than other Cucurbits that I have grown or observed.

Mosaic Virus or Fusarium resistance would be a score.

I have seeds from an AG that grew next to others with mosaic
It did not show symptoms of mosaic
I'd like somebody with bad mosaic problems to test it
I don't know if plant was resistant or lucky
And I don't know if seeds will be same?

Gary, you have mail coming your way.

I get slammed by Mosaic every year. Gave up growing AG's here at home as a result.

All I need to do is have your seed stock growing here in late May to tell. Even potted plants exhibit symptoms by mid-June so it will be a fair test of resistance even if it doesn't receive a full grow.

I had what looked like mosaic on most of my plants last year. I think it was brought in by cucumber beetles. I had a 3 plants that did not get it. Two were crosses of the 1370 Rose, and the other was a selfed 1370 Rose. Maybe that one has some resistance.

Good way to test for Mosaic resistance Tremor.

BTW - the majority of the GP/GS in my patch were hit hard by PM last year. Cool temps and very wet weather for over a month in August will tend to do that.

Did have certain other Curcubita - sold as 'PM resistant' - which did not have the PM infection that the GP/GS had. There are two different genes identified for this resistance, neither has been bred for in the GPs.
