I grew it last year. The plant grew extremly fast the pumpkin really took off early but never put on big gains but I believe that to be because of the lack of potassum in my soil.I also had problems with powdery mildew and squash vine borers so that also had an effect on the end result. The pumpkin was long and had a cir. of 156. The pumpkin taped 750 and weighed 720. As far as color it was between salmon and orange there are pictures in my photo gallery. The thing I noticed is that a lot of local growers grew it and all with different results with color, shape, and % of heavy or light. Hope this helps

I'm growing the 500 this year and hoping to cross it with the 1082 Mackinnon. Then plant the cross next year

I grew last season. The seed I had lacked vigor and I just about pulled the plant several times. I ended up with a 679 lb fruit, medium orange colour, 3.55% heavy.
The plant wasn't overly agressive and had more Powdery Mildew than other plants in the patch.
All this aside, I think the 500 is a great seed

Hi Bryan, the 500 grew my 1314 in 2005, 5% heavy cream color
In 2006 the average weight of the top 5 offspring from the 500 seed was 1120lbs, and all were darker orange? Most went heavy, and several growers achieved a new personal best.
Hope this helps...

I grew a 500 Beauchaman last year. It was a great plant and was on pace to be an amazing fruit, but it just stopped growing about August 20th (after growing 20+ lbs a day for 10 days). It taped to about 850 lbs and ended up weighing just over 700 lbs.

I grew one last year. Was putting on over 30 lbs/day when it stem split into the cavity on Aug 19th. Weighed in at 900lbs. Beautiful orange deep ribbed problem free pumpkin/plant until the split. About 4% light to the charts.
