Except for the 845, remakes of really hot seeds tend to not have as good a track record as the original. I'm wondering if it might be different when you drop down a level, to "warm" seeds. Since the top growers wouldn't be growing the originals in the first place, the comparison of performance between different stocks would be easier to evaluate, as the pool of growers would be much more similar. I just find it hard to believe that a top grower makes a magic great cross, and then all the remakes (often made by growers in the great middle) are genetically inferior -- what are the odds of that? So I'm wondering about seeds that produced say in the 700-1000 range, and then the performance of remakes. Someone with math skills and access to the AGGC database could probably run some numbers and come up with something interesting.

One interesting note: The most successful remake is the one with the same heavy hitter's name on it....845Bobier. If that seed was a Smith seed would we be growing it?

One reason I think the big named growers(Like Lipumpkin,,lol) that cant find that original seed to grow just dont want to take a chance and grow a remake is affraid of it might be wasting good patch space that they worked years on of building there soil.
