I keep thinking about this pumpkin since I have the seed that grew it. And I may need a few more backups. How did Kevin Companion know that the 1073 would produce this long and very orange pumpkin. He seems to be good at making things turn orange. Looking back into the genetics you do see some 801 and 846, however you also find 695 Handy which can be pretty ugly and also a Hester squash which came from the 900* Lyons squash. Just something to ponder.

This is yet another case of the mystery color phenomenon. Some might call me nuts, but I do believe that there could be a nutritional (ie. environmental) component to developing color. Well, even if there is, it would be slight.

I wonder if a plant could uptake and utilize beta Carotene during fruit production

We recently started 2 1073 Companion, hoping to get similar results as Kevin's 1002. Also started others as well - 788, 757 and 710 Companion, highly noted for their great color and shape. Nice to see the interest in the 1073. Danny
