If anyone wants to put in some input id appreiceate it ,,Ok things didnt go as id planned, my 1446 eaton dobble vined ,& the other back ups are way ahead of the plants i wanted to grow , Iv got 3 places for plants giving them over 700 sq ft ea, now this is what i cant dicide 958 t ciliberto way ahead of 606 clark , but 606 was planted later & its main is kind of weird , not dobble though ,,606 was the one i wanted to go with?? then spot #2 is 330 bassett its 1420 x 1068 ,it looks pretty good , but in spot 3 is another 330 that looks supper good , & spot # 3 has 996 bobier (845 x 846) that i was going to be main but looks ok but not nearly as good as 330 so if i go with the best plants then ill have 958 & 330 & another 330 ! ,, I guess i could ask if i should risk going with 2 x 330s , it sounds good on paper 1420 x 1068 , if they make it ? but that might be real risky cross ?? Ps all 330s that were in as back ups looked supper !!

If both 330s look good, go with the 958, 330, and 996.

In my patch I go with the best looking plant no matter what even if that means pulling a 1502

Fissssh,
If you go to: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=3&p=201221
You'll see that the best looking plant, doesn't necessarily translate the the biggest fruit in the end. If certain crosses are planned, you may want to take that into consideration. You may have to go with you gut feeling. Of course getting a variety of opinions could be helpful.

unless a plant is a complete mismatch id go with proven over unproven as a first choice.

i took the cross i wanted even if the unproven backup looked a little better. Also i try to not have the same seed in 2 spots unless there is a really good reason. I agree with JRO & PAP.

Thanks guys , Im afraid the 330s look so much better (night & day) that ill be going with 2 of them, Everything about them look superior to almost anything iv growen ,, Hardly any wilting , main stayes pretty level, secondarys growing good, color looks great, growes aggressivly, & all of them were about same,. & i know all this doesent mean big pumpkin, But one thing i think is with a cross like that 1420 x 1068 if it doesent split it will be huge ! & the others wouldnt be able to be pollenated untill end of july, & here in so cal that means harder to pollenate , I do concider everything !! its kind of gambling but if tryed enough times ????
