I have a double main on a 1217 Whittier. One one main I have a 1217 x 1355.5 Marion, and on the other a 1217 x 967 Kurilich.

They are close in size, and they are only a week old. How long do I wait until I cull one, and let the other one grow? I am leaning toward the 1355.5 cross, but he is a little smaller.

herbie, do you mean you are growing a plant with two mains like a back main, or has your main doubled if two mains grow both there has been 2 1000 lbers grown on one plant before on a main and back main....just an idea

What I would call a "double main" is two thick vines coming from the main body or stump of the plant.

They are both larger than any side vines. Both fruit are growing at an equal pace, and things are getting crowded against some tomatoes and corn. I have the vines bent around and running a little willy nilly lol.

Yeah, I will monitor both for a while and see. They are only 10 days old and around 25" circumfrence.
