my 1174 plant is the largest plant as far as the size of the vines and stump ive ever grown.. the plant is amazing..lost my first two pollinations ,the third was 20 feet out on the vine..pumkin was in very bad position, actually sitting on the main vine..had no option but to deadhead the main there.day 30-320lbs,day 40-458lbs still grown nice shape

I'm growing one too.Very strong plant.Pretty much same story as for scottie.Aborts, seeds in blossom. Also kept one at 18ft. out sitting on the vine. Terminated the vine after fruit too.
It's a nice wheel now est. 633lbs at day 40.here's a pic:

JOS, Wow, How does that pumpkin not tip over? Has anyone's ever tipped over? My 1174 is hard to tape acurately...growing like a flying saucer that has crashed into the side of a mountain.....Is taping close to my 805 Pukos but I dont believe it yet....Im also concerned about the deep blossom ring, This plant has no main past the pumpkin.....It wont be breaking any State records though....Dang! But it does make me smile...Hope it goes over 500....600, but we got PM up there big time so the end is near, we can get snow here in 1 week.....But I really like the 1174 genetics...nice plant

This is the only plant I have left and I have 2 set on now. I could not get one to set on the main and got 3 set on the side vines. I took one off early and let the others grow and cut the first side vine one off at 250 pounds. The other is on the second side vine and around 565 pounds and it is long and wide. I got one to take on the main at 22 feet and is at 225 pounds and is a wheel shape. The plant is in bad shape after the storms and heavy rain the plant was sitting in water for 3 days. They have not grown much the last 2 days so they may be done because of sick plant.I bet these will go 15-20 percent heavy the culls were very thick and heavy.

My 1174 has been growing well. It looked early on as it was going to be a big wheel but now it is widening out a lot so the wheel is not as noticeable. It is taking on a great shape and its numbers are looking good. There is a photo of it in my diary. I crossed it with the 898 Knauss so hopefully I will have some good seeds to share.

I had only problem with my 1174 wallace plan,I have not been able to set anything at all on it.
seeds in blossom end and almost no stem at all on the pumpkins. The few sets i had looked like they should be wheels and everyone has aborted.

Like Ned, My 1174 started out like a wheel, in fact it was named Willy the Wheel, but now its butt is growing out filling in to the ground, no orange yet, and its still hard to measure but is wide across the top. Nice growing plant too.

"nairb" Congratulations on your Pb of 741. I was wondering if your 1174 went heavy to the charts?
