Iv'e been looking over my seed stock, trying to determine my best proven seed to plant next year and ran across this 1367.5 rose. A 723/845 bobier. However it is marked {SQ} on the pkg. Can there be two 1367.5 roses? one squash and one not? Or is this possibly a miss print? Or just wishful thinking. it is also marked OVGPG. Any ideas on what this is?

At the time there were no clear rules on squash and the 1367.5 Rose was listed as a squash. By today's standards it was a pumpkin.

here's some pictures and info. it never dawned on me until now. if it was called a squash wounldn't it be the world record ? i have never heard anyone talk about that. just curious. i agree with brad with today's standards it surely would be a pumpkin.

I was interested in planting this due to the three it has produced, all over 1000lbs. Not sure i want to take the chance producing a squash at the end.

I grew the 1367 this season. It produced a fruit that looks just like its momma does in the picture, the bottom half was green and the skin is totally cantalouped. Nice solid fruit.

Dog, that seed hasnt been planted very much at all really, and seems like everytime its grown it grows a biggie, Monty Wallace grew a 1095 his rookie year with that seed, I think thats a good one you got there to plant next year.

If i use it as a pollinator, is the squash usually the dominant side? Or should i just be thankful i have a proven seed, whether it's green or orange, capable of growing a 1000lb. {in which i have never done}

Its a crap shoot. There is no way to know before you grow it but you most likely will get a pumpkin with the possiblilty of getting a squash. My plant was very strong prior to getting some type of leaf spot in July. It also went 15.03% over the charts. If I could redo this year I'd grow it again but I'd put the 1367 in my best spot the second time around. There is a pic on the fruit off my 1367 plant in my diary.

The 1367 was the 4th largest fruit in 2003 and the largest 723 Bobier progeny at the time it was grown. The world record that year was set by Steve Daletas at 1385. The 1367 was only 17.5 pounds off the world record.
