Hi.
I`m looking for opinions on a couple of crosses. I`m quite new to growing but am taking more of an interest in Genetics.
I`m planning on growing 2 plants next year, the 1297 Ghaye (998 Pukos X self) and the 963 Paton (1502 Wallace x 998 Pukos) I am going to cross them with each other.
I think the genetics are pretty impressive (to a newbie!)
Anyone got any opinions on this ?

Thanks

PJ

Two great seeds. Crossing them is no problem, though many growers would like a totally different line brought into the 1297.

For new growers I would suggest not worrying about crosses too much. You have two excellent seeds (I am also planting the 1297) and I hope you grow a biggie on both.

Just food for thought.

Less experienced growers, even if they get the breeding right, may still not be able to get as much size on a fruit as the vets.

However, the genetics do not screw up.

For example, say someone makes a 1502 x 998 cross, and the only manage to grow an 600 pounder, because they simply made a beginners mistake.

However, even if the novice did not do the 1502 seed justice, the genetics he gets out of that 600 pounder he grew from it, and cross was with a 998, the resulting seeds could still grow a 1700+ WR freak in the soil of a Vet, or even the same grower the next year, with a little more experience.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong on that.

You are correct sir.
It'll just be a little harder to get someone to grow that 600 pounder during the next couple years(to prove it out) than if it was a 1000+ fruit, BF
