The bar was set quite high this year. I'm guessing the world record won't be broke next year. I think the biggest pumpkin will come out of Ohio....maybe Jerry Rose.

12/31/2007 7:28:41 PM

hey you

Greencastle, PA

It might be weighed in Ohio, but it will be grown in Pennsylvania. Three 1500lbers were grown here in 2007 and three former world record holders live here.

12/31/2007 7:28:54 PM

Brooks B

Ohio

I think the world record will be broken, there was just to many 1500 lbers grown this year that broke the prevous 1502 WR, and 2 pumpkins that was right on the heels of the 1689.

12/31/2007 7:31:31 PM

Marvin11

or the person to grow the world record could use the 998.6 pukos

12/31/2007 7:32:16 PM

Marvin11

i hpe it will come from pa

12/31/2007 7:33:14 PM

Brooks B

Ohio

Look how close Quinn Werner has been the last few years, hes due.(but he dont live in Ohio, so I say Ohio or Pa takes the record, lol)

12/31/2007 7:33:38 PM

ya true brooks

or mabey RI again that would be cool

12/31/2007 7:35:40 PM

Hands on

Coupeville WA

Don't forget the left coast! Many great growers out here. We have had terrible growing seasons the past 2 years. If our temps come up half way to normal, can you say Jack LaRue, Steve Daletas, Joel Holland, Jake VanKooten, Starr, Pugh, Sherwood....the list is long in the NW, not to mention the California growers.

12/31/2007 8:15:57 PM

just bill ( team Pettit )

Adams County

I've got my eye on Dr. Liggett and his grand 664.5 looks like he's been ading about 200 lbs a year. last years 1524 is not to far off. I also like Bill Rodonis's chance.

12/31/2007 9:58:56 PM

Santa Rosa California

i would like to see the record come to the west coast

I believe the bar has been set very high as well. I also believe the world record will not fall in 2008.

I believe the person who growes the largest pumpkin in 2008 will be one of the heavy hitters working in soil that hasn't seen an Atlantic Giant before. Quinn I believe has a patch rotation system. I thought I read somewhere that Dick and Ron Wallace were working on building a new patch on their property. I think the McKie brothers will be up near or at the top. Quinn has finished 1st at Canfield three years in a row, that is amazing with the level of competition at that site.

I think Quinn has to be the number one contender in 2008 with the McKie's and Wallace's not far behind.

I would look out for the McKie's!

its fairly easy to pick a name or location we favor. hey theres so many good growers out there now? who knows?could be any of 25 growers-easily.

good growers are everywhere. one of them with great seed selection to chose from, lots of land to increase your chances, plus a great weather pattern, will do it.

a better question is what seed will the 2008 over all champion be grown from? a proven seed or a 2007 seed?

awfull difficult to top joes 1,689. he may reign for a couple years?

"could be any of 25 growers-easily."
"a better question is what seed will the 2008 over all champion be grown from? a proven seed or a 2007 seed?"
Or, maybe even a better question is what seeds are those 25 growers planning on planting to reach that goal...and whether there is a better seed out there that one of the rest of us will plant, that in the hands of one of those 25 would have become the 2008 overall champion? Hmm, BF

1/1/2008 11:51:57 AM

If anyone can do the research...how many times in late 06 and early 07 was Mr. Incredible "Joe Jutras" predicted to grow the new world record??? No disrespect to anyone, just curious if this NWR was "predicted" by anyone!!! If Mr Jutras "sir" was predicted, did anyone come close to predicting the correct NWR?!?!?! and if you predicted this to the pound???who is gonna win the superbowl, give me the point spread...Datona 500 winner, triple crown results, World Series Champs, and if you have the next super lotto #'s... wsmpeace@aol.com I will split it with ya, it you buy the tkt!!!
