Ok guys, I have a question. I’m doing a little project with my squash and pumpkins. Just wanting to know about what color the offspring of (pumpkinXsquash) crosses were. I have been told it could go either way but I don’t see how it could unless the pumpkin you used has some squash background in it. I just want to know what you guys have experienced with these kinds of seeds.

I grew the 761 Corkum which was 875 Corkum '00* X 875 Dill '99.

It grew 2 beautiful orange pumpkins for me but could just have well grown green squash or a mixture of both.

pure squash crossed with pure pumpkins. If there is a mixture of squash and pumpkins in the seeds background anything can happen at any time. However, if pure seed the female pumpkin crossed with a male squash will produce either pumpkin or squash, to clarify that you won't get 100% squash or 100% pumpkins, you can never be totally sure when you plant if it will be a pumpkin or squash, though several plantings may show any given cross to produce more one way or another. However, if the female plant is a squash and you cross it with a pumpkin, I'm talking a pumpkin with orange color, it will produce pumpkins every time. The orange color is domanent. Remember we are crossing pure seeds.

Remember..Just about all our successful lines of ag's that we are planting have a squash and sometimes several generations of directly in their background. My female squash that were crossed with a pumpkin do throw squash as well as pumpkins. There are no pure ag's unfortunately.
