Was wondering why this seed hasn't seen much dirt despite the huge pumpkin it produced its first year out (1186 Neuville) and the great genes it has (658 Wolf X 801 Stelts-658=846 Calai X self). I grew it last year and despite bad bug problems, a tiny plot, fruit set at 4' and a first year spot without much added to the soil it still grew to 420# and had great shape and was troble free. I plan to grow it again this year and was wondering if anyone else is, or has insight to why it hasn't been planted much. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the 425 suffers the same fate as other good crosses: the final weight. From what I have seen, Andy is noted for his great crosses.

ha ha, the 425 was a full 300 pounds heavier than my 125 at least.

Marc Pukos (Joe's brother) grew one just under 700 pounds from the 425 the same year Casey had his big one. That was (and still is, i believe) Marc's heaviest pumpkin grown.

2006 was the last time i put a row of pumpkins out in the cornfield. I planted my 243 out there. the 243 was off the same plant that i grew the 425 (425 was on the main, 243 on a secondary), and had the same pollinator. The 243 grew by far the heaviest pumpkin out in that plot:

I send some 425's out last year, but i think you were the only one I got feedback from.
