Milford, how much did your 1273 weigh and how did it compare to your personal best? I think that the genetic potential of the 1273 is amazing

Milford,
The only other 1273 Howard offspring, listed on the AGGC, is the 1040 Platte. It had nice orange color and decent shape IMO. Not as dark orange as yours, based on the pics. I'm thinking of using your 769(1273 X self) as a backup plant, and maybe give my brother a plant of it to grow. Hopefully the nice orange, nice shape, and heavy to the chart, are passed on in its progeny.

Mine had good but not great color. Shape was kind of like a pepper.

milford, CT,

Gr8pmkin...it was 769 lbs...was grown in only a 200 sq ft spot. I'm planting the 769 this year...I think if given a regular area it had a lot more left in her to go. It was 94 days old when I harvested and was still doing 6lbs a day. Good luck all!!

3 IPGA members grew it in 06. All 3 were light orange like gordons and a bit heavy to chart.

The 1273 I grew in 2006 came in at 448 pounds, which was close to 12% Heavy. Here is a picture of my 448....

Mark's 769 was beautiful. It earned the Howard Dill award at our weigh-off last year. I'd recommend the 769 or the 1273 to anyone who likes a blaze orange fruit.

The 769 is in the third row.
