I have a nice female flower close to the plant but the male flowers are no where neer opening before the female one does.If the female opens can I cut open a male to see if that will work or am I just impatient and Ill have to wait till another one comes?

Hey Axx I've got the same prob. I was pruning all flowers until mid June. Now My females are coming in fast and none of the males will be opening for at least a couple days.
I've got a request out there in New Growers Forum for males.
may as well put it here too.

Nashua NH/Lowell MA area if you've got spare males I'd appreciate a few.
Good Luck

Males wiil not produce useable pollen until the re fully matured which is essentially 1 day before opening. Go ahead and cut an inmature open. You wil see there is no pollen on the ridges which is what is needed.

The best thing to do in these situations is to try to find someone near-by you that is growing AG pumpkins as well and has male flowers that you can cut off and use.

Thanks everyone I think I got them in time. There was some pollen on a couple I opened and the next day a bunch more came open and I had 2 females I didnt see before so I hope everything is well. Its been 5 days and they are all still here and growing. Just panicked a little thats all. Been trying for a couple years now and I just want one at least 100lbs. Got one at 86lbs last year.
