I have had only 2 females on the main vine both with 4 lobes . But there are several 5 lobes on side vines. What is the pro and con on choosing the main or the side vine? Also if a side vine is a choice is a further up sidevine better than a closer in to the stump ?

four or five segments fruit mean very little. either will grow a very large fruit.
always choose pumpkins on the main whenever possible. the main is the main artery of the plant. its the strength and from where all else grows.
side vines support the plant and carry energy back ti the main. sending same down the main and into the stem of the fruit
