My plant grew very well and trouble free, I had a heat stroke and no water and it came back from that real well, but before the no water problem, the plant blew apart 2 pumpkins and has blown up 2 more. It seems the 20-30" circm. seems to be about when it happens. I got another one pollinated and it is growing real fast. It is about 20' out on the main. Anyone else having this problem with this plant? Also it is in the same patch and soil as my other plants, and none of them have had this problem.

COuld be too much Nitrogen....and this plant is a bit more susceptable...especially if it is a good grower.....Try setting one on a side......

I have blown up 2 on the side and 2 on the main. I just set the 5th one and it is day 5 and it is 15"s. I give it the same nitrogen as the other plants. Why is this plant more susceptable, is that one of the 805 traits?

What type of Nitrogen are you giving you plants Pastor? This time of year should really only be in the form of Fish.....Nitrogen demands are declining during this time of year...we have switched to 2-12-12....No need for lettuce now.....Let me know....

Actually I am not giving anything. Once I started pollinating in late July I quit. I was using 5-2-2 Fish Emulsion

LOL! Gordon!!

Pastor, I forgot to tell you that you needed to take a Bomb task force class and then the examination to then get your temporary license to grow that 1289 with out hurting yourself from the explosions.,,lol. I thought I sent you out some literature for the class's that was available in your area? lol

On a serious note though,I'm not sure what you got going on with your soil, and then again maybe your soil is perfect and its a genetics thing, but only way to really tell is to take a soil test to see what might be causing that.
I don't recommend a home soil tests, (tablet testing) BUT, if you want a quick answer on your soil this might give you a really really rough idea what your nitrogen is, Id take 4 separate samples in 4 different areas in your patch where your plant is growing. But your best bet would be to send it into a lab, this way you wont have trouble in this area next year, that's IF its a soil problem.

I hope you get one going on it Pastor.

leave all the pumpkins sets on till you get past that critical size....will slow down the growth until the pumpkin has a large enough girth to take it...then cull off the others slowly. GrowEmBig!
