My own seed, 629 Snyder. It was alot of fun watching my own seed make it over 1000 estimated pounds. And now I can't wait to take it to a weigh-off!

This plant was awesome, with huge leaves & a monster pumpkin (until it split, late Aug). It is easily the best plant we've ever planted, not only for the size of the fruit, but also it's vigorous growth as a plant. It was also an easy plant to care for. This pumpkin was on WR pace until that fateful day. We cut it up on Aug 31st & it was taping 393" or 1269". It had thick shoulders (13"+) on it & the sides were @ 8-10" thick. I'm sure it was heavy to the charts, but there was no way to weigh it. This seed has earned a spot in our patch for 2009. It should cross nicely with the 998 Pukos next season.

1388 Larue, a personal best for me, got one 525lbs and one 350lbs on one plant. This is my second year growing and I didn't really do too much in the way of fertilizing or vine burying. Just planted the plant and let er go.Not a single problem with the plant or the pumpkin. Extremely high shoulders, no sag lines, splits or rot. Starting to turn orange but I don't think it will be the greatest colour.

Our 966.9 Vincent-McGill 07, looks promising (943 Vincent-McGill X 845 Bobier). This seed was grown by our 4-H group this year and produced the top pumpkin 881.2 lbs still growing when weighed on September 5th. The pumpkin was 11.5% heavy, good shape, with a nice mottled orange complection. It easily would have gone 1000+ if held to October. The other pumpkins grown were consistantly good shape, orange and heavy to the chart. I believe this seed may do very well in a competitive patch and it will likely get planted in our patch next year.

The female parent of the 966 was a 1016 Daletas cross, makeing The 966 is very similar geneticly to the 1225 Jutras.

the 1450 wallace (1068 x 1068 sibb) was in the opinion of a giant pumpkin genetics expert the cross that purified the 1068 line.
when the 1450 was pollinated last year it created highbred vigor.we now see it in the seeds from fruit grown last year from the 1450
any crosses made last year from the 1450 will have the potential to produce pumpkins at the next level.

My 2 cents chimes in with the 1446 Werner. Although Roy and I lost the main fruit early in august to BES the plant is a monster. We left it grow just to see what it would produce if left on its own. It has produced a tremendous jungle of tangled regrowth around the crown like nothing I have ever seen before. At last count it has 13 pumpkins of various sizes growing on it and all were developed after the first week of August.

i have to agree with russ on the 1446 werner. it has grown my pb as far as ott goes and we will see what it does on the scale in 3 weeks. beauty of a plant all season long, great pumpkin shape, with a massive main vine. the vine right at the pumpkin is the thickest i have ever had. trouble free plant that was the most resistant to pm as well. the massive vine continues to get thicker all season long. i will take some pics of the vine attched to the stem and post them in my diary sometime this week when the sun comes out.
