Hi all,
I will probably plant the 981 Zunino 04 (1230 Daletas x 1048 Companion) next season. I had a look in my seedbox and found the following seeds:

979 Berrens 07 (955 Brinkley x 1302 Zuhlke)
1009 Kurilich 07 (802 Kurilich x 1370 Rose)
1040 Platte 06 (1273 Howard x 1029 Kurilich)
820 Sandvick 06 (869,5 Calai x 670 Daigle)
746 Snyder 06 (1210 Kline x 364 Webster)
705 Lovelace 07 (869 Calai x 1370 Rose)
482,5 Wolf 07 (500 Northrup x 1370 Rose)
842 Swarts 06 (1370 Rose x 670 Daigle)
817 Young 07 (1101 Northrup x 500 Northrup)
904 Frei 07 (1370 Rose x 810 Dill)
....

Need some support...

Wich one would you choose to pollinate the 981 to get a nice orange cross?
Any big offsprings out there from the seeds above in 2008?
Are there other seeds I should look for? Is it difficult to get a 772 Poirier?

So many questions...lol!

Thanks!
Raimund

Agreed, the 820 Sandvik was also an amazing beauty. I'm surprised it has not been grown more.

Our 571 last year was 981 Zunino x 500 Northrup - It was a crazy dark reddish orange - I can't wait to see the progeny but we didn't set anything on it this year.

I'm with you Glenn, the 820 Sandvik, what's not to like, although I still have a few 817 Youngs that are on my short list for orange.

The 820 Sandvik was a beauty but almost 20% light which probably explains why it hasn't been grown much. I think I would try the 842 Swarts which went over 15% heavy...

I've always wanted to cross 981 into the 670 Daigle but I'll probably never get the opportunity. If you do grow the 981 Zunino and will cross it with the 670 Daigle, contact me and I'll send you a 670 in trade for some seeds from the offspring. My email: anaid_tecuod@yahoo.com

V.. you grew the 981 (so i assume you have some) and you have a 670 - so you have both seeds- and you want to make the cross ... but you'll never get the opportunity?

am I missing something?

Raimund-
I replie to your last night. you can add the
775.5 Tannner 06 (670 Daigle x 869 Calai)
and 719 Tanner 07 (1370 Rose x 775.5 Tanner)
to your list.

I would say that the 705 Lovelace would be a good one to add to the mix

Tremor, I had your 571 planted this year and felt it would definetly grow a great dark orange pumpkin for a zoo I donation to, but that plant was short lived untill the seed corn maggotts decided they was hungry.
That 571 should produce some pretty pumpkins I bet.

How about out 993:

That 993 is gorgeous! The 998 crossed into it produced a 1170 pound fruit and had a nice shape and decent color. This cross has real potential for spawning an orange whopper!

Wow, that's right up there with the best of them John, size and beauty. Like my sister-in-law, minus the beauty.

Maybe he's an Obama supporter Gordon....?

Actually - since Obama is a bit light to the charts and not orange, I could not vote for him. I couldn't vote for the other guy with a beer belly and his momma either - so I voted for Ralph Nadar since he is very dense and looks like he's been pickled which is as close as I could get.....

Sorry gordon, couldn't resist :) - I have so many great seeds that are screaming in my refrigerator to get planted and too small of a patch. For example: two 1068's that a mr wallace sent me in 03, a coupla 1370 rose's, ect. ect...
Gotta make some tough choices here....

Thanks for all your replies.
Vince, my patch is about 15 miles far away from home and I really do not know if I will get the chance to cross the 670 Daigle into it, but thanks for this great offer!

John...your 993 looks great, you got mail!

My favorit so far is the 842 Swarts 06 to get some 1370 genes into it. I also like the 670 Daigle as a pollinator...

I forgot to add some nice bavarian crosses from Robert Jaser and Peter Frei. Hopefully I will get some seeds this winter.

Robert did: 801 Stelts x 898 Knauss
Peter: 846 Calai x 898 Knauss (reverse of the 1180 Daletas!)

Vince, I'm glad it's that kind of problem. For a minute there I was worried that you might stop growing!

Send me the 670 and I'll find space for it! ;-) I could grow the 981 again... it gave me my second best fruit ever.

Hallo Raimund,
I soon will post all my 2008 crosses. One of these crosses is the "639.3Frei08" (=898Knauss01x846.5Calai99), it's a 1180Daletas remake (not reverse !).
Of course, every grower who is interested in one of my crosses will get a seed.
Plants (seeds) of my crosses are (846.5Calai99, 1370Rose03, 1207Young07, 898Knauss01, 827Holland92, 801.5Stelts97, 1002Garrell07,....)
