the best cross for the 1068 was another 1068. which was created when we grew the 1,450 wallace in 2006.
im told by someone more knowledgable than me that the 1068 x 1068 sib purified the line and thats why the 1566 redonis, and any others grown from the 1450 and /or their offspring have done so well, or have great potential.

i tried to recreate the 1450 last year and was well on the way when i lost the fruit to a small (you guessd it ) breach at a dill /rib intersection.

How does one get a 1068 Wallace...I assume that that seed is only available to growers who have been growing for years and proven themselves are people who can afford to spend big money at auction.

The logical thing to do would be to look for pumpkins which had the 1068 Wallace in its genetics i guess!

So at least on paper, the 1068 Papez and 1149Pukos have the same potential as the 1450. To take that a step further, a seed such as the 1072 Sandvik would be comparable to a 1566 Rodonis or 1279 Wallace. I think George Lloyd had this figured out a long time ago.
