I have room for three plants. If you could pick 3 seeds out of the following, which 3 would it be and which way would you cross them???

1269 Hunt 08 (901 Hunt X 1631.5 McKie)
1180.5 Pukos 07 ( 1068 Wallace X 998 Pukos)
993 Vincent-McGill 08 (772 Poirier X 998 Pukos)
1344.5 Rose 05 (723 Bobier X 1180 Daletas)
1005.9 Werner 05 (998 Werner X 998 Pukos)
1343.5 Lyons 08 (1385 Jutras X 1470 Wallace)

This year has been a tough one to pick seeds. Last year I only had 5 seeds, this year I have too many to choose from

For color I'd pick the 993 Vincent-McGill hands down. Could prove a good size producer as well. That seed could become hot.
Isn't the 1344.5 Rose 05 a 723 X 1260 cross? Nice cross by the way.
1180.5 Pukos is the same cross as the 1385 Jutras, so that is one to seriously consider.
I'd probably pick those three.
I'd cross the following way:
993 X self(because I like orange color producers)
1180.5 X 1344.5
1344.5 X 1180.5

I agree with Doug. Actually, I'd plan to plant the 1180.5 and 993, but maybe you can sprout them all and plant the other three backups on the other side of the patch and grow them toward each other and make cuts as you go?

Thanks! I really like the 1269 also. It split at the end of August...WOW!
I had my mind pretty much made up about the 993 and the 1269 But I really like a lot of other seeds

So if I grow a 1269 Hunt, 993 Vincent-Mcgill and a 1180.5 Pukos which way would you cross them? Thanks!

This is kind of what I was hoping for, I just wasn't sure. The thought was I wanted to introduce some orange into your 1269 and some more size into the 993.

What about 993 x 1269
since both the 993 and 1180 have the 998 as the pollinator? or is that the intention of crossing the 993 with the 1180?

If you want orange then 993x1180 is a good cross.

Orange and heavy would go with 1180Pukosx1005.9Werner.

The 993 with that 772 Porier should throw you some nice orange color. Either way you have some nice crosses to make. Tough decisions.

Yes John, that was my intention with 993 & 1180. The idea with the 1269 x 993 is to bring in some heavy genes into John's big orange 993. By the way, the 1269 Hunt had good color too, just not as bright as John's 993.
