Anyone know if there is a complete genome of pumpkin sequenced. I did a search and could not find it but maybe some of you know better. I found some studies on fruit size and genome size. Also any studies about atlantic giants?

thanks.

Have you tried AGGC

If the sequence is known it hasn't been published here. I don't know if any Cucurbita Maxima has ever been genotyped. My own knowlege of such genetic things is too limited to contribute much to this subject.

Maybe Tom Beachy will chime in to this thread. I hope so.

AGGC tracks grower accomplishment & parentage/hierarchy/progeny. Hardly the stuff of genome typing.

Many of us speak of the "type" of AG we grow. Perhaps it isn't a very accurate way to categorize these fruit but you'll sometimes hear of "Dill type" or "Gancarz type" physical attributes. It would be interesting to learn if any of these so called "different lines" are really different of if they're all just part of the same genetic family.

Welty is the one to ask. He could actually do it if he had the equipment..LOL

It hasnt been done to my knowledge yet.

I'm no expert but I believe there are only a few species of any kind that have been completely sequenced. It was only a few years ago that they did human. Probably not enough money in it to do AG pumpkins yet.

$10M? wow, you must use different machines than I do. I work in a genetics core lab and I keep trying to figure a way to sneak a few samples in but no luck yet.
