Heres one for you guys to think on. You dont hear very much about this seed, wonder why?

All 6 pumpkins grown off this seed has went heavy.
4 out of 6 pumpkins grown off this seed went over 20% heavy.

1378 Glasier 09 12% heavy
1223 Glasier 08 20% heavy
1004 Urena 07 22%heavy
907 Bowles 09 8 % Heavy
866 Pugh 09 20 % heavy
657 Johnson 09 22% heavy

So what you guys think?,, think you might see more of these seeds grown next year?,,lol

You picked another winner Brooks. This overlooked seed had the 1032 Urena for a mother ( same cross as 1231 Pukos ) pollinated by 1195 Glasier. As you stated, many of the progeny went heavy which may be attributed to the 1144 Hester within the 1195 Glasier or the 1109 Larue which both went way heavy.
To me Leonardo is the west coast Joe Pukos.

Brooks- Both Pete Glasier and I used our 961 Urena plant this year as a pollinator for just about everything in our patches. If it passes on that heavy genetic trait to its offspring, I think it could be a great pollinator. My 866 (which was grown from the 961) was basically a no care plant after the fruit was mutilated by a racoon at about day 35.

I used the 961.5 (yes Brooks .5 counts) as a pollinator for my 1105(+11%) grown off of my 1250, both fruit were flawless, I also did the reverse cross.

Hopefully the 961.5 genetics add to the heavy lineage of the cross. Check out the heirarchy on the AGGC you can see what I have been working on.

Cold and lack of sun held sizes back this year in my patch, but we'll be giving that seed (the 1105) a test next year.

I think you guys are definitely on the right track for sure. I like a seed that grows a small pumpkin yet goes really really heavy to the chart. I was thinking maybe using this in a cross on the 1467 Perham, or a 1288 Wallace maybe, there is a few more also, but I think our next 2000lber will have a smaller shape to it once we reach that goal.

I just dont think a bigger size pumpkin that would be in the 2000lb range that goes to chart can make it to the end of the season with out gravity playing a roll. I think its going to be the smaller size pumpkins thats extra thick inside is what will make it to the end of the season better, but maybe not, I never thought we would make 1500 lbs with out the tops caving in before weigh off time, and heck, we are only 275 lbs away from that 2000 lb goal. amazing really once you really think about it.
