Take a look on the AGGC at the 700 Rodonis'09 (772 Poirier x 1385 Jutras). Now that there is a pretty pumpkin if I do say so! And the 1385's do go really orange sometimes.

My Dads 1385 he grew in 2008 the 102 Bosworth (1385 x self) was orange as orange could be.
I then grew that 102 seed this year and it also was as orange as orange could be... Im predicting big, heavy, and pretty off the 700 Rodonis,,what do you guys think?

Not taking anything away from the 700 Rodonis ‘09, but here is another pumpkin may fit that same big and orange category...

903.5 Williams ‘09 (F: 1013 Williams ‘07 x M: 1385 Jutras ‘07)

Matt,,,quit stealing the 700 Rodonis's thunder!! Ha!!! , I know you have a auction to promote,,LOL!! (just kidding ya Bud!,lol) And nothing against that Williams seed, but I still like the 700's color and shape alot better.

Just a beautiful orange pumpkin I thought Id throw out there, one of the prettiest orange pumpkins (and shape),, I have seen this year. And If I was growing for orange this 700 is the seed I would definitely grow.
And I bet it grows a beautiful orange.

too much risk for me with the 1385 in there. i like to see the orange come from the male side, if both parents aren't orange. look at the offspring from the 723x846 crosses.

The 1385 can go quite orange:

http://www.bigpumpkins.com/DisplayPhoto.asp?pid=6388

On the other hand, it might not. Re: World record 1725.

I'd like to know what THAT particular 1385 did?

There is a certain "long and wide" thing going on with those 1385... makes them big and weigh a lot. Now if we latch on to those that also go very orange... quite frankly, if I get one, that 1211 Toftness is seeing dirt in my patch next year.

I see what you guys are saying, I guess the only way to really know is grow it. I was going off the 102(1385 x self) I grew this year also,It was a amazing orange.

Guess the only way to really know for sure is to grow a couple.

If you are growing for Strictly orange, growing seeds with the 1385 in it could definitely alter your outcome. The 1385 is a wildcard when it comes to orange...

Now if your growing for size with the chance of getting a nice orange pumpkin the 700 Rodonis looks like a great cross!

Now For growing orange with a 09 seed, I like the 765 Guns 09 (1004 Mohr x 1102 Pukos).

Both the 1004 and 1102 are 08 seeds with great genetics that threw orange this year, I know I will be growing the 765 Guns next season!

Another seed I think grows a heck of a orange
( sorry Matt, gotta mention another one,,ha!)and thats the 556 Andrews (603.5 Muller X 940 Mombert ).
I grew that seed a while ago and it was a beautiful orange with the light colored whitish stripes.

Im really not into growing the orange pumpkins, or much for growing them for competition,(unless its a 904 Stelts) (again, sorry Matt, mentioned another,,lol) but it sure is fun to try and predict or see which seeds at the end of the season produce the nice orange pumpkins.

One orange seed I'm tempted to give a try next year is the 492.5 Gerhardt 08(670 Daigle X 603.5 Muller). If you check out Orangeneck's 2008 diary, you can see it pictured. I think that seed will have a very good chance of producing a very nice orange-colored pumpkin.

We should be able to figure out what Bill Rodonis' 1385 did... that 700 Rodonis is high, and if it was combined with a long and mean 1385, which had at least decent orange.............?

Well, if we are plugging orange then this one has potential for size and color. Brian Kenneally grew it ( our club prez ) and it won the "most perfect pumpkin" at the Windsor weigh-off. The cross is 975 Kline x 985 Werner.
