wondering if anyone else grew one out there and how they did. the actual 1185 seed is the smallest AG seed i have ever seen. but when sprouted it had some power. by far the biggest stump and thickest vines i have ever had in a plant. it was the most naturally resistant of all my 3 plants last year to powdery mildew when i got hit hard pm that 3 different fungicides couldn't slow down. the main snapped in the wind at 11' before i could get one pollinated. after retraining the secondary at 11' to be the new main, i still pollinated a female at 17' on that secondary-retrained-main by june 30th with no time set back. and i lost the stump in mid august and still had plenty of gains all the way until the weigh off. with all those set backs, the plant produced a 1125 pounder that went 7% heavy. the cross is the 1041 x 898 and i just wanted to know that this little seed has power. that secondary vine retrained to be the main was pop can size thickness going into the pumpkin. the entire vine continued to grow thicker the entire year. i wish i could have seen what it could have done with a pumpkin on the true main with a healthy stump all season. steve said it was a low seed count so i am not sure how many are out there. but 1125 lbs the first year out on a secondary/main vine means something and hopefully it sees some more dirt in 2010.

Shazzy, I had a 1231 Pukos I grew back in 2008 ,something like your talking about with the 1185 seed you grew.
While all my other plants had PM pretty bad at the last week of September my 1231's leaves looked almost perfect.
I had another plant that had PM really bad right next to the 1231 and was very surprised how good the 1231 leaves looked and how it didnt catch the PM as easy.

emanuele,
not sure how seeds climitize and if at all certain seeds from certain regions do better in the heat or the cold. the best advice i would give is to make a post about hot weather seeds and ask which plants seem to take the heat better than others. there are many growers out there that have had certain plants that are more heat tolerant than others. someone will steer you into seeds that have grown plants that have performed well in similar conditions as yours. i would look to those growers in spain, austrailia, san diego usa, or even south africa to see which they have found to take the heat better than others and go from there.
some genetic flaws in my seed crosses that i wouldn't want to pass along is preventing me from distributing my crosses out there. there are so many other good ones to choose from. best of luck in 2010,
shazzy
