I grew a (Galeux-dEysines x 1220 Raunig 07) and was wondering the cross of the 1220 Raunig 07. , I dont see the 1220 in the aggc.

Pretty neat looking pumpkin this seed grew, it looked exactly like a Galeux pumpkin only much much bigger then the normal size the Galeux produces.

I would be interested in seeds too! Brooks, what did the seeds look like? I tried a AG cross of this pumpkin and I think the AG side of the genetics split the Galeux-dEysines seeds. I only kept a few of them and I tried to germ 3 of them and nothing happened.

The 1220.5 Rodney Raunig 07 was grown off the 983.5 Isom 06(1370X1225.4), the 1220.5 was self or sib, I don't recall. I saw Rodney's 1220.5 at the Canby, Or W/O in person and specifically picked it as the pollinator because the color of it, matched the color of the Galeux. I did grow the cross, at a fiends house & didn't take care of it at all. It did produce a much larger "Galeux". I sent some out with Shannon's Exchange last year. I have some seeds left from the original cross, not many, and they may be light. Send me an email if anyone would like some.

Also, have our AG seeds from 09 available. Pics in our BP diary.

354.5 Savage, Sierra 09 (993.2 Vincent-McGill X 1159 Richards)Our 5 yr old grew this & another fruit to about 250 lbs in about 150 sq ft. Nice orange.

387.5 Savage, Serengeti 09 DMG(666 Dill 08(772X998) X 1159 Richards) It was sound when loaded in the truck for the Seaside W/O, then went to Pleasant Hill two weeks later. It was beautiful.

150.50 Savage, Serengeti 09 (868.0 Marsh (772X919) 08 X 416 Niederhofer (919X772) 08) Grown on single main about 12 ft long in partial shade.

We also have some of our 598 (1290 Poirier X 769 Lombardi) 08 and reverse left. A couple of very nice orange ones grown off the 598 this year!

I will be growing our 458 Savage 08 est(1290X1689), in 2010. It was by far the biggest, most aggressive plant we have had in the patch. We had fruit set (X1348 Hester), but it aborted when we lost the stump. To much water…LOL next year! Cheers, Brent

Ron, nooooo, never!!,lol,, Id never be holding out on the wizard of the pumpkin/gourd cross'er specialist,,lol!!
I would have sent these seeds out from that pumpkin but it was open pollinated.
The seeds I grew from the Galeux x 1220 Raunig)was white and very small ( Kinda unique looking just like most Galuex seeds are) but the seeds out of my pumpkin that open pollination cross pumpkin of mine was your average size AG pumkin seeds that are brown. If you guys want seeds Ill be happy to send them to ya .

I will give that pumpkin its props though, the skin on it was really tough, almost like leather and it lasted outside up untill a week or so ago when I took the seeds out of it. Very durable pumpkin.

Ron,Tim, I do have 4 seeds left from the (Galeux x 1220 Raunig) if you want one. Let me know, they are a neat pumpkin to grow.

I cant off hand remember who sent me the seeds from the Galuex x 1220 though, wish I could remember, but they wanted to grow my 183 seeds (55 rahe (cinderela x Burnst) x 748 Pukos) and sent these seeds with their bubble to me.

Brian Beecher (Brian B ) did a similar type cross just this year of the Galuex x 711 Bosworth, that might be another seed for you crazy cross type growers like myself to think about growing.

here is a pic (below) of my 183 (55 Rahe x 748 Pukos), and some pics of what my 183 seed grew, really nice Orange colors and unique shapes. Only thing about the 183 Bosworth is that it grows both shapes of pumpkin, one shape is definitely your large cinderella shape and the other is your average AG shape pumpkin. Chris Stevens grew a 750 lber off the 183 seed .Pretty neat though on the unique type pumpkins it has grown.

that 183 might be a neat cross with the Galuex pumpkin, be nice to be able to turn the Galuex side of the cross a bright orange.

Brooks, I did grow one of those 183 seeds, hoping for something like Rons fruits. But, got a slightly orange perfectly shaped AG fruit. I will try again in 2010. To turn the Galuex a bright orange, I think I would try pure Rouge d'etamps(Cinderella) pollen.

I do have some of the Galeux X 1220.5 Raunig seeds left.
I also did a (Rouge d'etamps(Cinderella) X 1290 Poirier) cross last year. It produced a really big, bright red fruit for me!
And, a (Marina Di Chioggia X 1129.5 Blalock*) cross, Throws big green warty fruits.

Some other seeds I have from this year are,

Zappho http://www.flickr.com/photos/_coolcat/3866702533/

Tonda http://www.flickr.com/photos/cpurrin1/511082340/

Ironbark http://www.koanga.org.nz/pages/images/ironbark.jpg

And a Ironbark X Buen Gusto(blue-green very bumpy) Cross.

Cheers, Brent

BS,

I grew Rons 71 seed and ended up with very very large Cinderella shaped pumpkins, take a look at these pumpkins I grew. Way over 100 lbs.
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=72412

If your looking for a very large Cinderella shaped pumpkin the 71 Rahe (Cinderella x Ag) might be what your looking for. But getting that shape every time might be tricky just like the 183 seed is, its like a 50/50 shot to get the shape your after it seems like. But maybe crossing the Cinderella back into the 183, or even the 55 or 71 seed, you might get that constant shape in the following years pumpkins seeds that are grown.

also grown off the 71 Rahe

I planted some interesting crosses in 2009. Pictures in addition in my diary.
>Pink Jumbo Banana x 1048,5 Companion
>Seals M x Marina di Chioggia
>Galeux d´Eysines x 1220 Raunig 07
> Marina di Chioggia x 1129,5 Blalock
>80 Rahe x 333,8 Höllein
All fruits became victims of the snails. :-(
Unfortunately, I achieved little success!
In 2010 I would try it over again.
I would be glad if me somebody can support with seeds.

I can offer mine cross Golden Hubbard Warty(Cucurbita maxima) x 769 Lombardi(Cucurbita maxima) in the exchange.

Brooks, you rang?

This is just the kick in the butt I needed to post a few pics of what happened this summer.

Yeah in 2008 I crossed Brooks' 711 as male to a Galeux d'Eysines. Unfortunately the fruit from the pollinator blew up on me. It was going to be round and not very orange at all. Here's the female fruit :
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=96757

The F1 progeny look as Brook's described. Just posted pics on my '09 diary (BrianB). They'll be up shortly if anyone's interested. FWIW I will grow this one again. Vigorous plant, nice dense, well shaped fruit.

BS The 183 Bosworth is probably recessive for the giant blossom end shape. I would guess 1 in 4 seeds would grow that shape.
Talk about blossom end worries lol
I use a whole jug of vigor cal on that plant.
Cinderella doesnt have that blossom end thing going on so I dont know where it came from.
Thought about doing a jumbo pink cross back in the spring but went for a cross that might add disease resistance instead.
