With all the Auction's going on right now, I'm guessing some growers have a cross planed, and I'd like to hear them!
Here's two I've got planed:
1568 X 1248 Ford.

Or if I can get hold of one, I'd like to do 1248 Ford X 1295 Jutras.

I know I'll change my mind but:
1236Harp x 820Beauchemin
1354Checkon x 820 Beauchemin
1055Jutras x 820Beauchemin
224Brouillard x 1236Harp
820Beauchemin x 340Beauchemin

The area I have to grow in is small, I could grow one or get some great genetics going, I'm going for seeds with great genetics this coming year.

These are for sure, well as long as they germinate.
1467 Perham x 1725 Harp & the reverse cross
?? Liggett x 1467 Perham
1024.5 Tootle x something orange.

Jed, are you just using the 500 as a pollinator??

Tim, if you crossed that 1467 Perham with a 1636 Liggett, I'd definitely grow it.

The 1502 Wallace and the 1164 Finders will definitely see dirt next year.

JA, I'm looking at either 1636 or 1524.5 Liggett with a 1467 pollinator. Being Dr. Bob was my mentor/instructor, I'm sure he'll give me one but I just haven't really asked him yet.

I have done a little research and came to the conclusion that a couple California seeds look like they have some potential.

There are six 961.5 Urena’s in the AGGC and all have gone heavy to the charts - 13%, 20%, 23%, 8%, 21% and 26%. Three are over 1,000 lbs, one 900, one 800 and one 600.

The 991 Urena has had the same results and has grown some monsters.

I’m lucky enough to have realized that Russ Pugh in California grew both of these in 2009 and crossed them. He agreed to send me some of his seeds. I’m going to grow his 1288.5 (991 Urena x 961.5 Urena).

I’m also lucky enough to have a 991 and a couple 961.5 Urena’s. In the AGGC there are 18 offspring listed for the 991 (yes ONLY 18) – 10 over 1200 lbs, another 4 in the 1000’s, 2 in the 900’s and a couple others in the 600’s. All that note the % heavy calculation have gone heavy – 5-20%. Mine I grew last year went 20% heavy (see my diary). I think I’m going to really go out on a limb and grow that 991 Urena…

The third I’ve decided to grow and this one is actually taking a bit of a chance is the 1355 Kilburn 2009. It only went 35% heavy. Dick and I have sent a few emails back and fourth and he shared with me that the seed count was low but still agreed to send me one of them (really nice guy by the way). I asked for a few but he gave me the Heisman and agreed to send me one; I hope it get it to germinate.

I plan on crossing the 1288.5 Pugh and the 991 Urena with the 1355 Kilburn. Based on how the plants look I’ll cross the 1355 with either the 1288.5 or 991.

We may put a couple others in the ground but for now this is what is almost set in stone.

yeah brooks i agree but the 904 is out of reach for me. thats why i'm going with the 1421.5 stelts as the 904 is the pollinator and i've always thought that the best color influence comes from the male side.

Mike I think that 1355 will be a great seed also, but if ya want to grow heavy grow the seed that grew that 1355 at 35% heavy , the 1467 Perham.

I still think that 700 Rodonis (772 x 1385) is going to be one of the seeds to grow, its gonna be the black sheep of the seeds untill after next year weigh ins,, hold onto your 700's unless you want to give yours to me,,lol

My crosses aren't completely planned, but thanks to some generous growers my patch definitely has a theme for next year:

1. 1467 Perham
2. 1211 Toftness
3. 1505 Holland
4. 1240 Bogie
5. 1725 Harp
6. 1087 Bhaskaran

What's the theme? The first five I listed each have the 1385 as the mother. So I could put any one of them with another and make some interesting crosses. The sixth is a true blazing red-orange producer. So like I say, I don't know how it will all pan out, but those six are the starting lineup.

My friends and I are trying to start two lines between the 6 of us. We can all only grow 2 or 3 plants each. We live close enough to polinate from each others plants. We are trying to get one orange line and one huge line. Of course these are December plans and I am sure they will change many times between now and April.
