Hi Doug,
This is Eric, the grower of the 1398.5. The plant was about 700 sq feet. Everything was small except the pumpkin. The best growing day was 35 pounds, but 27 pounds was the average during peak growth. The plant was very easy to manage. It was crossed with the Juntras 1385 which produced a 984lb pumpkin. After the season I realized why my 1385 averaged 11 lbs a day after day 35. It was my fastest growing pumpkin and I was very excited about it until it all but stopped growing. The main vine had a horizontal split almost all the way through that healed up, kind of. I was talking to Don Young and he always leaves his main vine exposed during the whole season except at the leaf nodes. From now on I will do the same. I have been growing for 16 years and there is always something new to do. For any more questions about the 1398.5 call me on my cell at (650)
269-9809. I would love to talk with you.
Eric

Thanks Eric, I will probably call you in the next few days. I have tomorrow off and if it is a good time I will give you a call to discuss things.

Thanks, I am really looking forward to growing this. I wish I had a couple more for backups just in case.

Hey Doug,
Give me a call if you want. If you grow the 1398.5 and it does well for you I will for sure give you another one.

Eric,

Gave you a call, and as I said in my message I messsed up on the germination and lost the seed, it must have gotten to moist cause i had all sorts of mold. Really sad about it since I loved that cross.

Still would love to talk to you about it. and if you are feeling generous maybe I can get one more seed from you.

-Doug
