I dont know about you guys and how you separate your seeds, but I have two containers that I separate my seeds in, one container is for my good proven seeds and seeds that I really like and want to grow. In the second container is for my other seeds like for seeds that hasnt been proven yet, etc, etc.

The 1133 Kline has been in my first container since the day I received it and I do definitely want to grow it, but when it comes down to picking my seeds out to grow when season starts it seems like its always the one I pull out and put to the side to grow for another year, and thats because there is so many great seeds out there and its impossible to grow them all,,lol. .
I dont want to grow it as back up because I think this will be a very good seed that has a great chance of growing some huge pumpkins.

Andy and I was talking about this 1133 seed last year in pretty good detail about growing , but we have both never pulled the trigger and put it in the ground yet,,ain't that right Andy?,haha!

If you go to the AGGC site and look at this 1133 pumpkin, its by far the LONGEST pumpkin I have ever laid eyes on, and coming in a really close 2nd for the longest pumpkin I have seen is Quinn's 1556 that I have seen in person.

But I was just wondering how many of you guys/gals have this problem with a certain seed(s),,that you are right there ready to grow it but it just doesnt make the cut?,,LOL I know I have alot more seed then just the 1133 I can mention.

I can imagine what it is like for someone that has been growing for a few years - as this is the first year I'll be growing and I already have that problem (thanks to the generosity of the members of this forum !!) - I think this is always going to be the case since there are so many great genetic crosses out there and the amount of space that each seed takes to grow there is never going to be enough room to grow all the choices.

As an example for a first year grower with space for 2-4 plants I have the following to chose from :

1041.5 Mckie x 1255 Vankooten
1375 Liggett x 1102 Pukos
1161 Radonis x 1502 Wallace
695 Young x 1385 Jutras
1290 Poirier x 1102 Pukos
1385 Jutras x 1502 Wallace
1502 Wallace x 1385 Jutras
1180.5 Pukos x 998 Warner

Any one of which could grow a great pumpkin and narrowing down even that small list is taking forever to decide so I can just imagine after several years what it will be like - best you can do is make your choices and then stick by them and give those that made the final cut the best care that you can and figure hopefully the ones that almost made the cut will be that much higher on the list for the next season until one day it does see dirt (hopefully before it gets so old it doesn't germinate !)

Brooks, I have the same system. Proven seeds over 1300 lbs and seeds I might think about growing. All other seeds (from club memberships) get given away right away. I usually only keep the seeds in the second group for 1 or 2 years. If they don't get proven, I give them away. The 1133 was for me also a seed I didn't want to get rid of but didn't want to plant either. I gave it away in the hope somebody else will grow it.
