I'm considering growing a 1469 Perham to use as a pollinator (and to grow a really heavy fruit). It grew the 1355 Kilburn this past year which went 35% heavy. That is absolutely crazy-heavy. Is anyone else jumping on this band wagon?

Was it on aggc, all I could find was 1467 and it was 5% heavy.

The 1355 Kilburn is listet at aggc.org with 35.23% heavy and was grown from 1467 Perham.

Russ, is that special Napa math to arrive at the correct number?

Subject: "1465 Perham"
Post: "1469 Perham"
Average: "1467 Perham"

I thought they only taught that math at my high school.

If I get to grow this year it will be in my patch. I may not have a garden as the place I've been growing is on the market and out of my price range. If not it will be planted at my next opportunity. I had a chance to see a number of fruit grown from that seed and not all are listed on the AGGC. The tendancy for heavy is clearly there and Dick's pumpkin was at the extreme end of the percent heavy category, but not an anomaly for that seed.

Obviously it's not proven but I think I'm growing the 1355 Kilburn (the pollinator was 7 or 8% heavy) and using it as a pollinator.
Someone has to try it...

Watch for alot of the 1467's from the Oregon/Wash area. I will also add that I cut up a smaller pumpkin grown from the 1467 and noticed the same characteristics in it that were in the 1355 when it was cut open. I was truly amazed when I saw DK's kin opened up and saw the same thing and both those went heavy only thing is that the other kin was only 400+ but still was over the chart. I to saw a few of them weighed and go heavy all be it not the 35% Dicks did but definately a respectable amount and the others were slightly under a thous. pounds and still pushed 20% or better. Can't wait to grow mine Wahoooo!

I have one of the 1467 seeds and one of the 1355's and plan to grow them both. I am considering crossing the 1355 with the 1579 Revier, the 1505 Holland, or the 1136 Pugh (Also very heavy). I was at the weigh in where the 1355 Kilburn was weighed in and nobody could believe the weight! Ron and friends re-measured and weighed the Kin 2-3 times to verify all the numbers were correct.

Mike, the 1467 Perham grew the only 35% heavy pumpkin taping over 1,000 lbs. ever. That is proven. Yes, I will grow one when I plant my seeds in April. Good luck this year. I'll watch your pics. Ryan E
