Has anyone ever proven inbreeding depression exists in AGs or any other maximas? If they have I'm not aware of it.

If inbreeding depression exists in AG's, it would take many more generations before the effects could be noticed.

They are not affected by inbreeding depression because they pollinate themselves. Besides, if they did suffer from inbreeding depression we would have seen this decades ago.

OK, you all just rocked my world!

Curcurbits, can you explain further? Seems AG are subject to inbreeding depression because they are hermaphrodites … because they CAN pollinate themselves … so I’m just wondering where you are coming from?

Because AGs are hermaphrodites wouldn’t the scientific assumption be they are subject to inbreeding depression until proven otherwise? I’m getting confused here -- isn’t selfing frowned upon because of inbreeding depression?

If one accept that heterosis exists, can one deny inbreed depression doesn’t exist?

Help me out here cuz you rocked my world!

As far as I know, in AG's all inbreeding does is re-enforce the traits already there.

If you re-enforce bad traits, you get more of the same.

If you re-enforce good traits you get more of the same.

The only thing about in-breeding is it does not bring in anything new.

It can even be usefull for a few generations before adding something new.
