milford, CT,

With there being 5 or more seeds throwing 1600 lb plus fruit..what crosses should we try to make. There is so much 1068 Wallace in all these seeds it seems as if there is little genetic diversity to work with ...My issues this winter are not what to plant but what to cross them with. OR..should I be thinking of selfing/sibbing? Mark

Cornhusk

Gays Mills, Wisconsin

Maybe a 1610 Lieber x 1725 Harp or reverse cross

What ever you chose will make no difference to the weight of the fruit, so don't worry about it too much, just go with what is available at the time.

I have thought of that cross as well Cornhusk. Sound like a killer cross!

1610 x 1725 would be nice.

Overall, I would say to start selfing or sibbing, though. Everything out there successful now seem to have a lot of Wallace (either 1068 or 1450 - which is all 1068) crossed with Pukos (998 or 1231).

Hey if you can get the Wallace 1596 into something its all good it has the 1068 as well as the 1161. Mark my word thats gonna be the next big seed. A few heavy hitters need to give this seed a go.
